Announcement for Imam Hasan Centre – Sydney and Imam Husain Islamic Centre
The first day of Shahr Ramadhan is Wednesday 13th March 2024.
Time 9.15PM
There has not been any reported sighting of the moon in Sydney by the naked eye, nor with optical aid. Furthermore, we are advised the same is for the shared horizon of Brisbane. (Shared horizon meaning – horizon of the moon elliptical movement).
Therefore, for the followers of:
Sighting by Naked Eye
- Ayatullah Sistani – The first day of Ramadhan will be Wednesday 13th March 2024, (first night being Tuesday 12th March, 2024).
- Ayatullah Makarem Shirazi – The first day of Ramadhan will be Wednesday 13th March 2024, (first night being Tuesday 12th March, 2024).
Sighting by Optical Aid
- Ayatullah Khamenaei – The first day of Ramadhan will be Wednesday 13th March 2024, (first night being Tuesday 12th March, 2024), as no reports were received of sighting by optical aid.
We have been advised that a sighting was made in Tennant Creek – Northern Territory, however this sighting is outside the shared horizon as described by Ayatullah Sistani and therefore does not apply to SYDNEY MELBOURNE CANBERRA
RECOMMENDATION – it is always recommended on the last day of Sha’ban and for those are able to fast, we recommend you to fast on Tuesday 12 March 2024 with the intention of the last day of Sha’ban.
